Nesodillo Isopod Care Guide
Nesodillo is a tropical, pill-forming (conglobating) genus found across Asia and the Pacific. The best-known lineage in the hobby is Nesodillo arcangelii — sold as "Shiro Utsuri" — prized for its bold black-and-white patterning. Despite the striking looks, Nesodillo are forgiving, prolific and a great choice for keepers stepping up from the most common clean-up crews.

Enclosure & conditions
Nesodillo are tropical and fairly forgiving. A standard, well-run isopod bin suits them perfectly.
- A shoebox-sized container with moderate ventilation is a great starting point — these isopods get fairly large and like to explore.
- Build the setup around an abundance of leaf litter and a chunk or two of cork bark.
- Add a handful of sphagnum moss in one corner to create a moisture gradient.
- Provide additional natural hiding spots as desired.
Temperature & humidity
Provide typical warm household temperatures and a minimum humidity of about 50% and they will do well. Keeping them on the warmer side encourages faster breeding. Maintain moisture with a damp corner rather than soaking the whole enclosure.
Feeding
Nesodillo have a strong feeding response and are quick to find food — likely because they are naturally active and out in the open.
- Foundation: plentiful leaf litter and decaying wood.
- Supplements: they tend to favour heavier supplements (bee pollen, protein, calcium sources) over plain vegetable scraps.
- Calcium: keep cuttlebone or limestone available for healthy moults.
Breeding
Once settled, Nesodillo are quite prolific — nowhere near explosive Porcellio numbers, but far more productive than a typical Cubaris. Keep them warm, well-fed and stable, and the colony will grow steadily with little intervention.
